was born out of a desperate need for a decent cup o'tea. We had just moved
to Port Townsend, WA and were frantically trying to find our favourite
brand of tea, PG Tips. We started to get a bit nervous that we had landed
in "the Twilight Zone" because nowhere was it sold and neither could it
be special ordered.
Sooo….we ordered over the internet and on a foggy morning in the spring
of 2002 while sipping our first cup of the precious elixir (while snuggled
in bed, I might add in glorious reverie) it hit us like a bowling ball
from heaven. A loud voice bellowed in our heads simultaneously "You must
sell this tea!" So from that moment on the madness began. We opened the
shop in Feb of 2003 and launched our website soon after. We sell PG Tips
and so many other things.
A footnote to the story is that indeed, after launching our project we
found another shop that sold Tips in Port Townsend. Thankfully, we had
not landed in "the Twilight Zone" after all.
Who is Angus?
The name "Wandering Angus" comes from the WB
Yeats poem The Song of Wandering Aonghus. In this poem, Aonghus, the
God of Love, meets up with an apparition, a Fairy woman from the Otherworld.
He, of course, falls madly in love (as he should), she disappears and
in a typically tragic Celtic manner he spends the rest of his life chasing
his dream. This poem has personal significance to the principals of this
business as well. When Steve and Helen met, he fell madly in love (as
he should) and though she didn't exactly disappear he had to travel over
an ocean and a continent to finally marry her. And as in any "healthy"
partnership, she keeps him chasing her…just a little.
Our hope is that you fall madly in love with our beautiful Celtic treasures
and keep coming back time and time again. We also hope that the mystery
and wonder of the Celtic psyche lures you in and that your thirst for
knowledge and beauty never runs dry. Wandering Angus is a place that will
always whet your appetite and invite you to linger awhile. Read
the poem here.
Reseed Arts, Inc.
Reseed Arts, Inc. is our parent company established in 1995 to promote
educational classes in Celtic Studies. Our mission in our education classes
is to plant again the experience of Beauty, Mystery and Wonder into the
study of human consciousness, through the exploration and application
of myth, archetype and art. We are committed to integrating the ancient
arts of alchemy, astrology, dream interpretation, storytelling and symbol
making into the healing and development of the human psyche. We believe
that by accessing the imagination and by following the psyche's own creative
impulse, the individual and the greater world reach towards their potential.
Steve Blamires
Steve Blamires is a native Celt from Southwest Scotland. He
is the author of several books on Celtic Lore and Mythology. He has
been teaching Celtic tradition and culture in the UK, Ireland, Canada
and at several colleges and educational centers across the USA. In 1993
he represented the Celtic people at the prestigious Council for a Parliament
of the World's Religions in Chicago. He has made numerous appearances
on TV and radio on both sides of the Atlantic and is well known as a story-teller
and authority on Celtic and Viking mythology.
Helen Star
Helen Star first became interested in the Celtic World through the study
of myth, ritual and archetypes. She found that the mysteries of the N.
European cultures are rich with knowledge of spirit. The symbolism inherent
in much of the art and stories of the Celts is reflected in the kind of
products that we offer and in the classes that we teach.
